Recovery Day Ride

Day 5: Parker to Lake Havasu City; 44 miles

The temp in Parker at 6:45 am was 88 degrees; when we arrived in Lake Havasu three hours later the temp was 96 degrees. The forecasted high today: 102. Thankfully our ride is over. When I went out for lunch at 1:30 the heat was stifling; perhaps Florida with its heat and humidity isn't so bad afterall.

Breakfast today was genuine country home cooking. I had Oatmeal made from stratch, a slice of smoked cured ham, two pancakes and a large OJ. Prior to the diner, my daily banana and a glass of OJ. The service was impeccable; our waiter was polite, attentive, and covered with tattoos from ankles to shoulders, although he kept them all covered.

Having entered Arizona last night, we promptly left as we headed to LHC via California. The ride to LHC was scenic with several miles along the Colorado River. At mile 18 we crossed over the Parker Dam back into Arizona. Once back in Arizona we had a few nice climbs that called for a little bit of work but the short ride today allowed everyone to stretch the legs a little before the serious climbing starts.

No known flats today.

The short day provides everyone a chance to get some laundry done, me included.

Hi Mark,
It appears you are making very good progress. The heat must be a real drain on the body.
Julie and I made it home late Tuesday, and I hate to say it, but it was a long drive. I cannot imagine what it would be like on two wheels, without a motor.
We are enjoying the daily post and look forward to your upcoming rides.
