Countdown to the Adventure!

As we enter the final countdown to the beginning of my adventure, the excitement continues to build. I depart for Santa Barbara on Thursday morning to acclimate to the time change, meet up with my bicycle (shipped it out on Monday) and meet my co-riders.

The ride takes 39 days, with 35 days of riding and four rest days. We'll average 96 miles per day. Most days are in the 90-110 range. However we get a few "recovery rides" at 44 to 65 miles and one epic day that rivals the TdF, at 140 miles in the Santa Cruz Mountains of Colorado and New Mexico.

We depart Sunday morning from the Santa Barbara oceanfront for a short 75 mile jaunt to Valencia, CA.

In case you have not seen it yet, there is a nice article in the Orlando Sentinel today about Mark and Marcy.
